Event: Monthly Cosmo Club

Cost: Minimal, cost is determinant of what the attendee would like to
order
Planning Tips/Details: Meet once a month, changing the location to
accommodate sisters traveling from different areas. Appoint one sister the
hostess, arranging reservations, greeting new sisters as they come, possibly
doing a small ice breaker.

Event: DZ Alumnae Spirit Squad

Cost: Minimal, cost is determinant of what the Alumnae would like to do
for the local collegiate chapter
Planning Tips/Details: Meet once or as often as you like, to place spirit
signs on the cars/house of local collegiate chapter members, sing to the
chapter, attend a meeting- taking goodies, etc. This same group could send cards
to or go sing to local alumnae in need of cheering up. The possibilities are
endless!

Activity: DZ Secret Sisters
Sponsoring Chapter:
Dayton Area Alumnae
Cost: Minimal, cost is determinant of what the Alumnae would like to do
for her Secret Sis
Planning Tips/Details: Ask Sisters to voluntarily participate in the
Secret Sister program. Those who wish to participate, are asked to fill out a
brief information/interest inventory (asks for favorite color, author, music,
etc.). Put the inventories in a hat and allow each Sister to randomly draw her
Secret Sis. Sisters are asked for one month to acts as a secret sister, making
contact at least one time by: sending e-mails, cards, small gifts, etc. Be
Creative! Provide the ladies with possible ideas of ways to WOW their Secret
Sis. Secret Sisters are revealed at the next/event meeting through a Secret
Sister Ceremony. This activity is reminiscent of Bigs N' Lils and is so much
fun! It's a great way to get people involved and get them to know one another.

Event: January Dine Out at Rockne's Restaurant in Solon
Sponsoring Chapter:
Cleveland Eastside Alumnae
Description: They have a private room which they'll gladly give us on a
Tuesday evening. We've gone there for 3 years. They give us separate checks and
we keep thanking them for that service and tell them that's why we keep coming
back. (The diverse menu and reasonable prices help, too.)
Cost: We order from the menu; dinner ranges from about $8 to $12.
Planning tips: We make a reservation a few months in advance. We ask
everyone to RSVP but encourage last minute drop-ins, too!
Event: Presentation by our liaison at a school for
hearing impaired

Cleveland Eastside Alumnae
Description: One of our philanthropy projects is to provide TTYs to local
hearing impaired students. Their teacher told us heartwarming stories about how
these gifts affected the recipients. This was not only informative but inspired
us to continue our hard work on fundraising.
Cost: None
Planning tips: We did this as part of a regular meeting in a member's
home. The home hostess provides coffee, tea, and a soft drink or lemonade, and
two other members provide dessert.
Event: Lunch Together - Cleveland Eastside and Westside
Alumnae

Cleveland Eastside Alumnae
Description: Last year we met at the Cleveland Playhouse and this year
we're going to the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Both locations provide a nice
lunch and tour. We do this on a Saturday (our meetings are usually held on
Tuesday evenings). It's great to meet and reconnect with sisters across town.
Cost: $10 to $20 for lunch, tour, and parking
Planning tips: Planning begins in late summer or early fall for a March
meeting. Westside and Eastside Alumnae take turns handling reservation and
administrative details. RSVPs and prepayment, specifying the choice for lunch,
are required. Seating arrangements are done to make sure each table contains
both East and Westside sisters. Table favors are a nice touch.
Event: Operation Christmas Child Philanthropy Project

Description: We used this event as a joint project between the alumnae
group and the new member collegiate class. It was a great way to get acquainted!
The project involves collecting items such as hygiene items, school supplies,
toys, etc. for disadvantaged children. Then you pack the items in shoe boxes,
wrap the boxes and deliver them to a drop-off location nearest you. Samaritan's
Purse then delivers the boxes to children all over the world.
Cost: Each member makes a donation of several small items or a monetary
donation. We also collect shoe boxes and wrapping paper. Each box requires $5.00
for shipping.
Planning Tips:
- Since each box requires $5.00 for shipping, be
sure to use large adult size shoe boxes. You want to try to pack as much as
you can into each box.
- All items should be new. The website will give
a larger description of items needed.
- Start collecting items early. Many times
you'll get fast food toys your kids don't want, free stickers in the mail,
crayons from a restaurant your kids don't use, etc. Also, take advantage of
the school supply sales in August.
- The boxes are due to the drop-off location by
mid Nov. The timing of this event has made it a really good opportunity for
our alumnae group to meet the new collegiate members and work together on a
project.
Event: Paint Your Own Pottery
Sponsoring Chapter:

Cost: Each person buys their own pottery piece. Some places have a
sitting fee.
Planning Tips: A great November activity, especially for mom's, to make
Christmas gifts! Most places allow you to bring in snacks as well. Takes a week
to be fired and picked up.
Event: Pampered Chef Fundraiser
Sponsoring Chapter:
Columbus Alumnae
Cost: Whatever people order, host will have to purchase food to be
prepared.
Planning Tips: We felt it would be best to pick a consultant not in our
group as we had numerous home sale consultants within our group and did not want
to pick one over another. This event can easily be open to friends and family to
raise more funds
Event: Holiday Potluck Brunch and Ornament Exchange
Sponsoring Chapter:
Columbus Alumnae
Cost: Each person brings one potluck item from a pre-arranged menu (ie:
Danish, muffins, bagels, breakfast potatoes, quiche, OJ), as well as an ornament
to exchange. We also added the optional "Bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to
Toys for Tots".
Planning tips: Our host sister provided the hot breakfast meat, coffee,
and hot chocolate. Most other items brought were simple to prepare and did not
require heating.
