National Volunteer Week

      RE:  National Volunteer Week

Delta Zeta Sorority is once again participating in National Volunteer Week
(April 18-24, 2010).  A service of the Points of Light Institute & HandsOn Network, National Volunteer Week is about thanking some of America’s most valuable assets – our volunteers – and to recognize the many ways they improve our organizations and communities.

National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to be an asset in their communities and on campus.  It’s about demonstrating that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals no matter how big or small.  This is a time to celebrate our volunteers who dedicate their time, talent and treasure to the success of our sorority.  National Volunteer Week is not only our moment in time to celebrate our volunteers, but to enable our sorority to share ideas, practices and stories, wherever they happen, and shaping a movement to re-imagine the notion of citizenship for the 21st century.

Did you know?

       • About 44.6% of volunteers became involved with their main organization after
being asked to volunteer, most often by someone in the organization.
       • Communities with high levels of neighbors working with and helping each other
are more healthy and vibrant places to live and work.

Delta Zeta wants to take this time to honor you, our volunteers.  Without your tireless and continued efforts, Delta Zeta could not continue to thrive as it has over the last 107 years.  No act of volunteerism is too big or small.  Your actions inspire others to get involved and achieve results.  Thank you for all that you do on a daily basis to exemplify the high ideals of our sorority.

Delta Zeta Sorority was founded by six women who gave graciously of themselves to build an organization which provides an enduring sisterhood based on a heritage of core values, academic excellence, leadership development and service to others.  Volunteerism is the foundation of Delta Zeta.  We couldn’t do it with you!

Hello Delta Zeta alumnae!

This week is NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK, and in this spirit I would like to express my sincere THANKS to all of you for everything you do for Delta Zeta!  We are lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers working to keep the spirit of our sisterhood alive and glowing brightly.  It is women like you that keep me motivated and excited about volunteering myself!

In an effort to continue the chain of thanks, please pass my gratitude and appreciation on to your alumnae who also serve your chapters and/or the larger community in a volunteer capacity.  Thank you for giving graciously of what is yours.

In the flame,
Denise
