RE: State Alumnae Chairman Position Opening
Plans for launching the State Alumnae Chairman Program Pilot beginning
in January 2010 are well underway and the Search Committee is seeking
qualified volunteers from each pilot state to participate in the
program.
The two areas identified for the pilot are the Great Lakes Area and
the Southeast Area. The Area Team positions of the Membership
Chairman, the Development Chairman and the Public Relations Chairman in
these two pilot areas will be suspended during the duration of the
pilot. A State/Country Alumnae Chairman will be appointed for
Michigan, Ohio and Canada in the Great Lakes Area. A State Alumnae
Chairman will be appointed for Alabama, Florida and Georgia in the
Southeast Area. A total of six State/Country Alumnae Chairmen,
reporting to their respective Area Alumnae Directors, will participate
in the pilot.

Position Interest Application. In addition, below is general
information about the basic job responsibilities, position requirements
and time commitment.
Job Responsibilities: It shall be the duty of
the State Alumnae Chairman to cultivate member opportunities and
connections within the state and to engage members not affiliated with
an alumnae chapter or chapter association and to support the alumnae
leadership within her state. The State Alumnae Chairman will
report directly to the Area Alumnae Director. The State Alumnae
Chairman will work with the Regional Collegiate Coordinator in
connection with alumnae activities at Region events and in identifying
volunteers to assist with collegiate chapters within the state.
Position Requirements: Candidates must possess an
enthusiasm about Delta Zeta; exceptional interpersonal, networking,
communication and organizational skills; the ability to motivate others
through effective communication of desired objectives; be willing to
look/assess objectively, recognizing that all outcomes may not be
popular; the ability to identify needs of varying demographics within
the alumnae membership and suggest/implement plans to engage alumnae
membership at a variety of levels; and reside in the state to which she
is appointed. The ideal candidate should have experience and
comfort with technology tools that will enable and enhance necessary
communications. A strong working knowledge of Delta Zeta policies
and procedures is preferred. Some travel will be required.
Position Time Commitment: January – June 2010 -
the State Alumnae Chairman agrees to participate in position training;
to participate on monthly conference calls for pilot feedback before,
during and after the pilot; to maintain communications as necessary with
the Area Alumnae Director in her area; to report as needed to National
Council on the alumnae activities in her state. Some travel will
be required.
