The 2005 Region VI Outstanding Alumna This is an annual award presented to an alumna in Region VI. One who never hesitates to volunteer to help with or to organize a project. One who clearly lives the Delta Zeta creed, giving graciously, not for recognition, but in response to a desire to give back to her sorority. Congratulations to Christyle Broadworth, Alpha Theta (University of Kentucky) Initiate, for being chosen as the 2005 Region VI Outstanding Alumna Award Winner! Christyle was nominated by last year’s winner Andrea Henderson. Christyle Broadworth, Alpha Theta Collegiate Offices held: Chapter President, Guard, Historian Alumnae Chapter: Ann Arbor Area Alumnae Chapter Andrea notes that “Christyle has parlayed her role as CCD at Gamma Sigma to foster a relationship with our alumnae group. Both parties are enjoying the newfound friendship between collegians and alumnae.” Hobbies: Scrapbooking, time with family, DZ sisters, and friends Christyle has spent her alumnae years in dedicated service to Delta Zeta through her role as the CCD at Gamma Sigma and as a member of the Metro Detroit and the Ann Arbor Area alumnae groups. She joined the Metro Detroit alumnae group in 1993 and remained a member through 2004, when she worked with me to found our group in the Ann Arbor Area. As a member of the Detroit group, she participated in various facets of the group’s programming and served on its Central Board from 1995 to 2001. She also served as the Detroit Area Panhellenic representative for a few years. Christyle gives so much of herself to Delta Zeta, serving both the collegiate and alumnae members of Michigan. I have been impressed by her commitment to strengthening the ties between the two groups. Since our Ann Arbor group was formed, she has made a solid effort to devise activities that would bring the two groups together in a way that everyone would enjoy. For example, she organized a finals kick off party for the collegians hosted by the alumnae, and paired collegians and alumnae as e-mail friends. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful sister as Christyle. She is kind and supportive and her love and dedication to our sisterhood is an inspiration.
