Canada Philanthropy Award
This award is presented to an alumna living in Canada who has demonstrated a significant philanthropic contribution with her effort, energy, and time to Delta Zeta’s philanthropies or other organizations.
2014 Canada Philanthropy Award - Shannon Elizabeth Derkachenko (Omicron Nu 2003)
2013: Alynn Bergamin Anglin, Windsor - Omicron Nu.
As a collegian, Alynn was Treasurer and then President for two years. Currently, she serves as the Philanthropy Chair for WECA, and she has been an active member of the Rotary Club. Alynn has traveled to Ghana, West Africa, for two Rotary missions. In March 2014, Alynn will again be visiting Ghana, delivering 1,200 backpacks filled with clothing and school supplies. The Omicron Nu Chapter is assisting Alynn in collecting these materials, as well as reading glasses and other supplies needed in Ghana.
2012 - Carla White ( Windsor Omicron Nu 1992).
Carla lives in Calgary but her good deeds go around the world! Carla spent the first half of this year biking the length of Africa promoting the end of Energy Poverty. She raised $24,000 and completed the 12,000km journey delivering 11 solar lights and a wind turbine to communities in need throughout Africa. Making Change brings creative people from around the world together to work toward creating a better society. Carla is serving as the photo-journalist as they support sustainable development in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
