Pamela McClure Cronenwett Loyalty Award, Margaret Cole 2008 

This award is presented to an alumna member of Delta Zeta in Region VI who has made a significant contribution to her sorority through her loyalty, interest and devotion. This year’s winner was initiated into the Zeta Nu Chapter in 1960, and earned her degree from Ferris State University in Education and Accounting. She is a member of the Grand Rapids Alumnae Chapter and has served as the Lamp editor, chapter historian, recording secretary, VP of membership, treasurer, alumnae representative to Zeta Nu chapter and the financial advisor for Xi Psi. Although she has recently “retired” to the city about an hour away from Grand Rapids, she continues to be an active member of the Grand Rapids Alumnae Chapter. She and her husband David have 3 grown children – David Jr., Jan and Deb, and she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, sewing and visiting with her DZ sisters.

“Margaret has been a sister who has always walked ‘truly in the light of the flame.’ She has been a trusted and loyal member of the Grand Rapids Alumnae Chapter as well as a knowledgeable and understanding advisor to the Xi Psi Chapter. She was the Financial Advisor for many years – even back when the sorority's books were kept by ledger and pencil. And I know this because I was the treasurer of Xi Psi and Margaret was my advisor when we changed the books to this ‘new’ and ‘complicated’ program called Excel. She has also shared her special sewing talents with Delta Zeta. Every member ever initiated at Xi Psi and many of the members of Zeta Nu were wearing gowns sewn lovingly by Margaret – and from what Jane Telder has said they were "buggers" to sew. Margaret Cole has such a special place in her heart for Delta Zeta and every member of the Grand Rapids Alumnae Group has a special place in our hearts for her Margaret.”
