2010 Region V Day Helen Reimund “Love” philanthropy award

Helen Reimund “Love” philanthropy award - Helen Reimund was an English professor at Findlay College in the 1960s.  She was initiated into Theta Tau chapter at Findlay with many of her students in 1963, and served as the chapter’s first CCD.  Through her life, she treasured the Delta Zeta standards and gave graciously of what was hers.  The Findlay Alumnae Chapter originally presented the silver "Helen Reimund Love" silver candlesticks as an award in her honor, and the tradition continues today.  The award is presented to an alumnae chapter for supreme excellence in philanthropy - total money and time donated to philanthropic causes, the Delta Zeta Foundation and local charities.  This year, the recipient donated $128.00 to the Delta Zeta Foundation and $1,143.00 to local organizations, for a total of $1,271.00 in contributions over the previous year.  In addition, the chapter performed 97 service hours supporting events such as the March of Dimes March for Babies and the ACS Breast Cancer Walk.  The group donated toys to the YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter, bears to the Starkey Build-a-Bear project, and a quilt to the Painted Turtle camp.  Members also provided dinners to guests of the Ronald McDonald House.  Finally, at their 2008 Founder’s Day Celebration, the chapter held a Foundation Drive, encouraging all members to donate $1.00 per year they have been a member of Delta Zeta.  This raised $102 for the Delta Zeta Foundation.  For the fourth time in the last five years, the winner of the Helen Reimund “Love” Philanthropy Award is the Dayton Alumnae Chapter.
