Olive McCune Loyalty Award Olive McCune was a member of Alpha chapter in the early 1920s. She trained as a teacher and taught in the Cleveland area until she retired in the 1960s. She never married so her love for children was expressed in the elementary school classroom. I was a student in her 2nd grade classroom – and, because Olive and my mother were Delta Zeta sisters, she recruited me from 2nd grade onward! Miss McCune was a charter member of the Cleveland Alumnae chapter. She promoted Delta Zeta enthusiastically wherever she went. Her loyalty and dedication to Delta Zeta was contagious. She attended many national conventions and was loved by a wide network of Delta Zeta sisters. She lived in my parents’ home after she retired until her death. -Mella Cooks Davies, Great Lakes Area Alumnae Director This award was established in 1967 and shall be presented to an alumna member of Delta Zeta in Province V who has made a significant contribution to her sorority through her loyalty, interest, and devotion. Since this is a state award and not a chapter award, you may wish to nominate someone who is not a member of your alumnae chapter, but who you know has fulfilled the qualifications for this award. This may be a person who lives in an area where an organized chapter or club does not currently exist. Previous Winners
