2006 Helen Reimund "Love" Philanthropy Award This award is presented to the alumnae chapter for supreme excellence in philanthropy - total money and time donated to philanthropic causes, the Delta Zeta Foundation and local charities.
Recipient: Dayton Alumnae Chapter Donations to the Delta Zeta Foundation: $143 Donations to Local Charities: $2000 Total Philanthropic donations: $2143 Delta Zeta Service Hours: 15 hours Other information which highlights your Philanthropy projects: The Dayton Alumnae Chapter prides itself on service to the community. In order to help give back to the community we decided to add service efforts to some of our meetings. Last year we added a feature to our website which talked about the philanthropic efforts of our chapter. This year we have dedicated an entire philanthropy page. The reason behind this addition is so that we can boast that Greeks continue to make positive impacts within the community. We are proud to be good stewards of our chapter funds. Please feel free to check out the website and click on the philanthropy page. Listed below are some of our service efforts: In March, 2005 - 11 members attended the Panhellenic Style Show. The chapter collected four donated items which raised $125 in the silent auction. The total money raised from the event goes toward scholarships for collegiate women. Each member in attendance also brought clothing items to donate to “Clothes that Work” a local non-profit organization that helps people get back into the workforce. In April, 2005 - Members painted flower pots and planted flowers. These pots were donated to a local hospital, and helped to brighten the day of some of the patients. In October, 2005 - Members raised $1288 toward the fight against breast cancer. A team of 12 participated in the 5K walk that benefited the American Cancer Society. In November, 2005 - Members raised over $500 at their annual “Winter Auction Brunch”. All items in the auction are donated by chapter members. A majority of the funds raised at the event were donated to the Kappa Iota chapter to help fund recruitment events. In December, 2005 - Members gathered toys for the local YWCA. These toys were given to children who are victims of domestic abuse. In June and November, 2005 - Members participated in the Care to Share day. This is in collaboration with the Elder-Beerman department store. The money raised at the event was sent to the Delta Zeta Foundation, and added to the Mary Lou Barth Scholarship fund. |
