Chapter Associations
Alpha Eta
-University of Michigan (MI) Definition of a Chapter Association
For example, if you initiated into the Alpha Alpha chapter, you became a member of the Alpha Alpha chapter association that very day. No matter where you live, and regardless of the year that you were initiated, you still belong to Alpha Alpha chapter association. The typical Delta Zeta alumna perceives her greatest connection to Delta Zeta Sorority, not through the national organization, but through her ties with her collegiate chapter. No matter how long ago the alumna was initiated, she still wants to know what is going on with "her" chapter, where the women she was in college with are, and what they are doing. Many alumnae have expressed an interest in getting together with their sisters from college. An active chapter association can fulfill the needs of these alumnae. For many of them, the association may be the only way they can remain connected to Delta Zeta. In short, alumnae chapters base their membership on geographical location (regardless of one's college chapter letter designation). On the other hand, chapter associations are defined by one's initiating chapter (regardless of geographical location). Thank you to Jamie Hammill for the above information. Attention Great Lakes Area Chapter Associations: Would your group like to have a website? For $15.00 per year, the Great Lakes Area will design and host your Chapter Association's site on our domain.
